Hundreds of thousands of bottles of water have been recalled, and consumers are now being urged to be aware.

Food recalls often occur when production does not meet hygiene requirements. This can lead to products being removed from store shelves.

In this case, it was discovered that the water had been bottled under unhygienic conditions.

Consumers are therefore advised not to drink the water if they have purchased the affected products. Instead, the bottles should be discarded or returned to the retailer.

Where the water was sold

More than 650,000 bottles of water have been withdrawn from stores in the United States, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The water was sold in the states of Illinois and Wisconsin. In total, the recall involves 651,148 plastic bottles from the company Valley Springs Artesian Gold, LLC.

The products were sold in several types. These include regular bottled water, distilled water, water for infants, and a variant marketed for dogs.

Authorities monitoring the case

The manufacturer initiated the recall on February 6. The FDA later reviewed the case and issued an official risk assessment.

On February 26, the recall was classified as a Class II recall. According to the FDA, this means that serious health damage is unlikely, but there may be a risk of temporary health problems.
