For many people, the day automatically starts with coffee. A Spanish doctor, however, points out that a small change can make a noticeable difference to the body.

Morning routines play a major role in health because they are easy to recognize and simple to change.

That is precisely why straightforward advice often attracts a lot of attention. One such piece of advice concerns when you should drink your morning coffee.

According to the Spanish newspaper El Economista, endocrinologist Francisco O. Rosero has highlighted a habit that many people rarely question.

A simple step

Francisco O. Rosero’s advice is straightforward. He recommends drinking a glass of water before having the first cup of coffee of the day.

After a night without fluids, the body is often mildly dehydrated, and water can help restore balance.

In an interview with El Economista, the doctor explains that this small step can better prepare the body for caffeine.

Why the order matters

According to Francisco O. Rosero, the stomach is more sensitive in the morning.

The stomach lining has not received food or drink for several hours, and coffee also increases the production of stomach acid.

This can lead to heartburn or stomach discomfort, even in people who normally tolerate coffee well.

He also recommends drinking coffee without sugar or milk, as this may be gentler on both the stomach and blood sugar levels.

Coffee in a broader perspective

Coffee is not a problem in itself. On the contrary, several studies show that moderate coffee consumption is associated with a lower risk of, among other things, type 2 diabetes and premature death.

The point of Francisco O. Rosero’s statements is therefore not to give up coffee, but simply to change the order.
