It sounds like a fantasy, but scientists in Italy are exploring it.
By blending dark chocolate with a bitter extract from the absinthe plant, they’ve developed a unique biscuit that may curb your appetite.
The concept isn’t about trickery or replacing meals with sugar.
Instead, the team from the University of Eastern Piedmont in Italy focused on naturally occurring compounds in cocoa, which are known to influence hormones linked to satiety – the feeling of fullness.

Early results are surprising
A small pilot group of 11 participants ate one of the specially formulated biscuits each morning.
Over time, they reported feeling less hungry throughout the day, especially before dinner.
What’s more, the biscuit seemed to stimulate the GLP-1 hormone – the same one targeted by popular fat-loss injections like Wegovy and Mounjaro.
According to the researchers, this effect could be linked to the bitterness of the plant extract combined with the antioxidant power of dark chocolate.

The scientists also noted that the biscuit is not only functional but also tasty and feasible to produce at scale.
This opens the door for what might become the first truly indulgent yet science-backed snack for weight management.
Comfort food with unexpected power
The idea of chocolate aiding weight loss challenges everything we’ve come to believe about dieting.
But the researchers behind the study believe it may be exactly what emotional eaters need.

The team now plans to conduct a larger clinical trial to test the biscuit’s impact on overweight individuals.
