The clinic looked legitimate. Patients came in, teeth were pulled, and root canals performed. But behind the masks and medical gowns, nothing was what it seemed.

It appeared to be a normal dental clinic. The equipment was professional, the staff wore proper uniforms, and the waiting room was always full.

Patients had no reason to be suspicious.

Tooth extractions, fillings, and even anesthesia were all part of the daily routine. It looked and felt completely real. But everything was built on a dangerous lie.

The man leading the procedures was only 22 years old. He wasn’t a dentist. In fact, he had never studied dentistry at all.

Learning from the internet

The young man had taught himself dental techniques online. He read articles, watched videos, and decided he was ready to treat real people. He wasn't alone.

A 50-year-old woman worked alongside him, posing as a nurse. She had access to dental supplies through her job in the healthcare sector.

With her help, the clinic had everything it needed to seem convincing.

A 44-year-old man also joined the operation, offering his property as the location and producing prosthetic teeth for the patients.

Over time, the illegal clinic treated dozens of patients and made around 4 million Czech koruna. That’s over £130,000 earned through deception.

The shocking truth uncovered

It all took place in Havlíčkův Brod, a town in the Czech Republic. The fake clinic opened in 2023 and continued for months before authorities stepped in.

Police arrested all three suspects earlier this month. They were charged with running an illegal business, money laundering, attempted assault, drug offences, and theft.

Although none of them had a criminal record, the charges are serious. If convicted, they could each face up to eight years in prison.
