In the podcast "Am I Doing It Wrong" from HuffPost, surgeon Dr. Evan Goldstein warns against the use of wet wipes.
According to the doctor, the wipes can disrupt the body’s natural bacterial balance.
He explains that such an imbalance can lead to infections, irritation, hemorrhoids, and small tears.
Dr. Evan Goldstein states that he sees around 90 patients per week, and that approximately one third have issues he associates with wet wipes.

More than an environmental problem
Wet wipes have long been criticized for their environmental impact. But according to Dr. Evan Goldstein, they may also harm the body.
He believes that too many companies are selling the wipes and says they should be banned.
Even dry toilet paper can cause irritation, he explains in the podcast.
An alternative solution
As an alternative, Dr. Evan Goldstein recommends using water, for example a bidet or a handheld rinsing device. This is a common method in many parts of the world.
