A French company has developed a special houseplant that, according to the company, can clean the air as effectively as an air filter.

Indoor air can contain more harmful substances than outdoor air.

This was stated by the French biotech company Neoplants in an interview with My Home Book.

The company focuses on developing plants designed to improve indoor air quality.

The substances come from products such as cleaning agents, furniture, paint, and carpets. Some of them have been linked to heart and lung diseases, as well as cancer.

The company has therefore spent several years developing a plant that can help purify the air.

Specially developed plant

The project involves around 20 researchers and bioengineers in Paris. According to Neoplants, the plant was developed using biological methods and special microorganisms in the soil.

The plant is cared for like a regular houseplant, but it also requires a special bacterial mixture once a month to keep the system balanced.

It also comes with a specially designed pot intended to help the plant absorb airborne substances more efficiently.

More effective than other plants

The plant is called “Neo P1” and is based on the pothos plant, which is already known for improving air quality.

According to Neoplants, “Neo P1” can clean the air up to 30 times more effectively than ordinary houseplants. The company compares its effect to that of a HEPA filter.

The plant is not yet widely available for sale, but the expected price is around 179 dollars.
