How many calories can a daily walk actually burn over the course of a year? Calculations provide the answer.

Getting started with walking requires neither expensive equipment nor extensive experience. That is why walking has become a popular form of exercise.

According to the Spanish media outlet InStyle, regular walks can help improve blood circulation, reduce stress, and help keep blood sugar levels stable.

InStyle also explains that the body benefits even from shorter walks. However, the longer you walk, the greater the positive effects on your cardiovascular system and metabolism.

Walking alone is not enough

According to InStyle, several fitness trainers recommend combining walking with strength training, a healthy diet, and an appropriate calorie deficit.

Running generally burns more calories than walking.

On the other hand, walking can be an effective way to use the body's fat stores for energy when the pace is suited to that purpose.

How many calories do you burn?

According to trainers on the Adhgym podcast, an average walk can burn around 300 to 350 calories.

A longer walk lasting at least 40 minutes can therefore result in greater energy expenditure.

The trainers estimate that people who walk from Monday to Friday throughout the year can burn approximately 78,000 calories.

According to InStyle, this is equivalent to nearly 10 kilograms of body fat over the course of a year, provided the walks are combined with a healthy lifestyle.
