Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger spends a great deal of time keeping his body ready for life on stage. The 83-year-old singer follows a strict routine when it comes to both diet and exercise.

According to the Argentine newspaper LA NACION, Jagger’s diet includes organic foods, fruit, vegetables, legumes, rice and wholegrain pasta.

He gets most of his protein from chicken and fish and avoids red meat and processed foods.

Author Isadora Puiggené writes in the book Pacto con el diablo that Jagger also eats avocado almost every day.

The singer also consumes large amounts of food. According to LA NACION, this is due to the amount of energy he expends in his active daily life.

More than running

Jagger incorporates several different forms of exercise into his routine. Ballet, yoga and Pilates are all part of his programme, helping him improve his flexibility and body control.

Norwegian trainer Torje Eike has overseen parts of Jagger’s training for several years. According to LA NACION, his workouts have lasted between two and three hours, with a focus on cardiovascular fitness and endurance.

Trains almost every day

The scale of his overall training programme is considerable. According to LA NACION, Mick Jagger works out five to six days a week.

He can run up to 12 kilometres in a day. If running does not fit into his schedule, he may instead spend an hour swimming, kickboxing or cycling.
