Toothpaste is one of those things you grab on autopilot. You squeeze it onto the brush twice a day without thinking about where it came from.
Most people never flip the tube over to read the fine print.
Right now, the fine print matters.
The US Food and Drug Administration has classified a nationwide recall of more than 4.3 million tubes of fluoride toothpaste as Class II.

The manufacturer, India-based Pritam International Private Limited, voluntarily pulled the products on September 10, 2026. The FDA designated the Class II status on October 19.
The affected tubes are distributed by Ashtel Studios Inc. of Ontario, California.
The brands include Barbie, Hot Wheels, My Little Pony and Crayola Silly Scents, plus adult lines evo, ARU, BB and plain Brush Buddies.
The manufacturing problem
The recall was triggered by what the FDA calls current good manufacturing practice deviations, often shortened to cGMP.

These are the federal rules setting minimum standards for how a drug or oral care product is made, tested and packaged.
A deviation means the company's process missed one of those checkpoints. It does not mean a specific contaminant has been identified in a tube.
That is why this recall sits in Class II, the middle tier. Use of the product may cause temporary or medically reversible health effects, with the chance of serious harm considered unlikely.
The FDA notice reported no illnesses or injuries linked to the recalled tubes.

Products and lot codes on the list
The recall covers 17 separate toothpaste products in 3.5-ounce tubes, 4-ounce tubes, and a two-pack of 3.5-ounce tubes.
The flavors range from bubble gum, strawberry and watermelon to peppermint, sweet mint and cool mint.
Several ice cream varieties are on the list too, including cookies 'n cream, vanilla, chocolate and mint chocolate chip.
Expiration dates run from November 2026 through June 2028, so tubes bought in the past year may still be in use.

Each product carries several lot codes, all beginning with "LWP". The full list is published in the FDA Enforcement Report under event ID 99849.
What to do with the tube on your sink?
If a tube in your bathroom matches one of the recalled brands and sizes, stop using it and check the lot code on the crimped end against the FDA notice.
The agency's standard guidance for a Class II recall is to contact the retailer or the manufacturer about a return or refund.
Many of the affected tubes are kids' toothpastes with character packaging, so parents are the main audience here. The FDA has not flagged any specific symptom to watch for.
