Every year, tens of thousands of people travel from East Africa through Djibouti to reach Yemen.
Many hope to find work in countries such as Saudi Arabia.
However, the sea crossing is dangerous. According to the UN's International Organization for Migration (IOM), more than 900 people died or went missing along the route last year, as reported by CNN and Nyheder 24.
The situation has become even more serious due to renewed fighting in Yemen.

Survivors are in shock
According to CNN, the latest boat disaster occurred near the port town of Obock in Djibouti.
Survivors have been taken to a center where they are receiving medical care and support following the traumatic experience.
Alexandre Coissac, who heads IOM's operations in Djibouti, told AP that many survivors remain in shock.

The boat was carrying 305 people when it departed from Djibouti for Yemen on October 8.
Shortly after departure, it capsized near the coast. According to Coissac, overcrowding was a major factor in the disaster.
