Health experts are warning about a popular beverage found in many Danish homes.

Most people are familiar with recommendations to avoid smoking and limit alcohol consumption, but several doctors also believe that some common drinks may pose health risks.

British cardiologist Jeremy London regularly shares advice on heart health through his Instagram account and with the media outlet The Mirror, according to B.T.

According to Nettavisen, he mentions smoking, alcohol, and products made from refined flour as things people should be cautious about.

Research raises concerns

Other experts share these concerns. According to the Express, physician and researcher William Li points out that high consumption of certain soft drinks has been linked to conditions such as metabolic diseases and cancer.

He emphasizes that the issue is not just sugar. Additives, colorings, flavorings, and preservatives may also play a role.

Large European study

A study published in JAMA Internal Medicine in 2019 analyzed data from more than 450,000 people across ten European countries.

The researchers found an association between both sugar-sweetened and artificially sweetened soft drinks and an increased risk of mortality. However, the study identified a correlation and does not necessarily prove a direct causal relationship.

Warning

The drink Jeremy London warns most strongly against is soft drinks. He refers to them as “liquid death.”
