Botox, short for botulinum toxin type A, relaxes muscles by blocking the chemical signals that make them tighten.
It’s often used to smooth wrinkles and treat conditions such as migraines or excessive sweating.
Its effects normally last three to four months before the nerves begin to function normally again.
Weight loss drugs
Weight loss injections such as Ozempic and Mounjaro have become widely used in recent years.

These drugs, which were originally developed for type 2 diabetes, help regulate blood sugar levels and can lead to significant weight reduction.
They’re available by prescription and should only be used under medical supervision.
Some users, however, are now combining these medications with Botox.
Nurse Sam O’Loughlin, known online as @itsnursesam, says she’s noticed a trend among people using both treatments.

Many report that their Botox results seem weaker or wear off faster than before.
Fat loss and wrinkles
According to Sam O’Loughlin, the reason isn’t the Botox itself but what happens to the face during weight loss.
When someone loses fat, they also lose the small fat pads under the skin that give the face its natural support and fullness.
With less fat, the skin can look looser, and fine lines may become more visible, even after a Botox treatment.

Essentially, the Botox is still doing its job, but the changed shape of the face makes the results look different.
Health experts say it’s generally safe to use Botox and weight loss drugs together, but they recommend doing so only under the supervision of a qualified professional.
A spokesperson for Novo Nordisk, the company behind Ozempic, has stated that patient safety remains their top priority and urged anyone experiencing side effects to consult their healthcare provider.
