According to Express, Anna from the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust shares short informational videos on TikTok under the username @swbhnhs.
The aim of her content is to explain which signs may appear with bowel cancer and why they should not be ignored.
Express reports that she draws on her experience from screening programmes to highlight that many patients react late because the symptoms seem harmless.
Her communication targets people who may not naturally seek out traditional healthcare channels.

The method is viewed as a supplement to official campaigns, as the short-video format appeals to a different audience.
At the same time, it is emphasised that early attention can reduce the delay that often occurs because the symptoms resemble familiar and benign conditions.
The symptoms
Express writes that Anna outlines five main groups of symptoms.
These include signs related to bleeding, persistent changes in toilet habits, and physical changes such as fatigue or unexplained weight loss.

She also notes pain or a lump in the abdomen, which can be one of the more noticeable signals.
However, these signs can often be caused by other conditions. What matters is their duration and combination, which may raise suspicion of something more serious.
For that reason, her message does not focus on creating fear but on reducing unnecessary delays in assessment.
Time plays a major role
According to Express, she recommends consulting a doctor if symptoms persist for three weeks or more.

This timeframe is generally used in screening work because early diagnosis increases the chances of a less invasive course of treatment.
Although there is not yet a fully curative solution for all patients, Express notes that treatment methods are continually evolving.
Earlier assessment therefore provides greater flexibility in choosing a treatment plan and improves the overall prognosis.
