Questions about the president’s health are once again dominating the public debate. An interview offers insight into how he himself responds to the attention.

Donald Trump’s health has once again become a topic of discussion in the United States.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, the president directly addresses concerns about his age and physical condition.

According to Axios, the interview is among the most detailed Trump has given on the subject, and it comes at a time when voters’ focus on presidents’ health has intensified.

Trump is 79 years old and the oldest president at the time of inauguration in U.S. history.

Experiences from the 2024 election campaign, in which Joe Biden withdrew after persistent questions about his health, have made the issue politically sensitive.

Health as a political issue

In the interview, Donald Trump says he believes his health is being made into a bigger problem than there is any basis for.

He expresses regret over having undergone advanced medical examinations in October, because, according to him, they led to speculation.

According to the newspaper, the examination was a CT scan and not an MRI scan, as Trump had previously stated.

Images and rumors

Trump also commented on images that have circulated widely, in which bruises on his hand have drawn attention.

He explained that the marks are due to many years of taking high-dose aspirin as a preventive measure against heart problems.

He also rejected claims that images of him with his eyes closed show him falling asleep, explaining that they are often merely blinks caught by photographers.

Message to the public

Toward the end of the interview, Donald Trump makes his main point clear.

He describes his health as without problems and points, among other things, to hereditary factors as the most relevant.
