Some changes in your feet are completely normal, while others may indicate that your body should be examined more closely.

Rachel Jones, Chief Pharmacist at Superdrug, told Express that many normal bodily functions are often mistakenly seen as signs of a health problem.

At the same time, she stresses that sudden or persistent changes should always be assessed by a healthcare professional.

Is sweating a problem?

Smelly feet are often associated with poor hygiene, but according to Rachel Jones, sweat itself is odorless.

The smell only develops when sweat mixes with bacteria that naturally live on the skin.

She told Express that sweating is often a sign that the body's temperature regulation is functioning normally.

Regularly washing your feet, wearing clean socks, and using antibacterial foot products can help reduce foot odor.

Hair on your feet

A popular claim on social media suggests that having lots of hair on your toes is a sign of good blood circulation.

According to Rachel Jones, there is insufficient scientific evidence to support that claim.

She explains that hair growth on the feet is primarily determined by genetics, age, and hormones.

As a result, toe hair cannot be used as a reliable indicator of good overall health.

On the other hand, sudden hair loss on the feet or lower legs, combined with cold feet, pain while walking, numbness, slow wound healing, or changes in skin color, may be signs of circulation problems.

In such cases, Rachel Jones recommends seeking medical advice.
