Instead of milk and sugar, some are adding a small amount of fat to their morning brew.

The idea, first popularized by Dave Asprey, founder of the “Bulletproof Coffee” movement, combines freshly brewed coffee with healthy fats.

He says, he was inspired after trying high-fat tea drinks in Tibet, then adapted the concept for Western coffee culture.

Physician Dr. Jeffrey Gladd believes that the blend of butter and coconut oil can help keep people full for longer and provide steady energy throughout the day.

Switching to this version of coffee can improve focus and moderate weight loss.

"Since I started adding butter to my daily coffee, I’ve lost six kilograms. This drink not only gives me energy but also helps me control my appetite", Dr. Jeffrey Gladd told Kiskegyed.

How to make it

You don’t need fany equipment to try it yourself. Here’s a simplified version of the recipe:

  • About 80 grams of unsalted organic butter
  • One tablespoon of coconut or palm oil
  • Half a liter of freshly brewed coffee
  • Optional: a drizzle of maple syrup or a pinch of brown sugar

Blend everything until creamy and smooth. The result is a rich, frothy drink that can easily replace your regular latte, though most experts still recommend having a light breakfast alongside it.

Why it might work

Nutritionists suggest that the healthy fats in butter and coconut oil can delay hunger and help the body use energy more efficiently.

Combined with a balanced diet, the drink may support gradual and sustainable weight loss.

Many who have tried it also report better mental clarity and fewer sugar cravings in the morning.

Still, health experts note that it’s not a miracle solution. The drink is high in calories, so moderation and overall diet quality remain key.
