Kettle Cuisine LLC has recalled its Marketside Tomato Bisque Soup Kit sold exclusively at Walmart after company testing produced a presumptive positive result for Listeria monocytogenes, according to a notice posted by the FDA on August 13, 2026.
The Savage, Maryland company says no illnesses have been confirmed.
The recall covers 3,240 packages of the 14 oz (397g) refrigerated ready-to-heat kit with UPC 194346474004 and a use-by date of 8/22/26.
The kits were shipped between June 30 and July 7, 2026 to select Walmart stores in 29 states.

If you bought one, do not eat it. The FDA advises consumers to throw it away or return it to the store for a refund.

The affected states are Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin and West Virginia.
The best-by date has now passed, but a kit transferred to the freezer or overlooked in the back of the fridge would still be covered by the recall.

Why Listeria is treated seriously
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that survives and even grows at refrigerator temperatures, which is why authorities recall contaminated ready-to-eat foods rather than counting on cold storage to keep them safe.
The CDC estimates that about 1,250 people are infected with Listeria in the United States each year, and 172 die.
It is the fourth leading cause of death from foodborne illness in the country.
The people at greatest risk are pregnant women, newborns, adults 65 and older, and anyone with a weakened immune system.

According to the CDC's symptom guidance, symptoms in pregnant women are usually mild, and some never have symptoms at all, but infection during pregnancy can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery, or a life-threatening infection in the newborn.
Symptoms to watch for
Intestinal illness from Listeria usually starts within 24 hours of eating a contaminated food and lasts one to three days, with diarrhea and vomiting the main signs.
The more serious invasive form is slower to appear.
Symptoms of invasive listeriosis usually begin within two weeks and include fever, muscle aches, fatigue, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and seizures.

Anyone in a high-risk group who has eaten the recalled soup and develops these symptoms should contact a doctor.
