A new treatment will soon become available for men with prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer can be difficult to detect because symptoms often develop slowly, according to The Sun.

Some men experience more frequent urination, difficulty urinating, or a feeling that the bladder is not completely emptied.

New treatment

The new treatment is called Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR).

The treatment delivers powerful radiation beams to the tumor from multiple angles. This makes it possible to target cancer cells more precisely while minimizing damage to the healthy tissue surrounding the tumor.

According to NHS cancer director Peter Johnson, quoted by The Sun, the technology has been designed to focus radiation directly on the cancer and limit damage to healthy cells.

The biggest change, however, is that patients will only need to attend five treatment sessions instead of around twenty.
