If you’re stung, expect strong swelling, redness and a burning sensation where you were bitten.

For people who are hypersensitive or allergic, symptoms can escalate to numbness, nausea, low blood pressure or even breathing difficulties.

Learn to tell different bites apart

Being able to identify different bites helps: ant bites may create small blisters, ticks stay attached to the skin and spider bites leave two tiny puncture marks close together.

If you’re stung, wash the affected area well with soap and water, then cool it down to reduce swelling and pain.
