Large international study reveals which country has the worst mental health

A new international study compares mental health across 18 countries.

Concerns about the future are becoming increasingly common for many people.

According to the AXA Mind Health Report, uncertainty about a rapidly changing world is the biggest concern for around half of those surveyed.

The study is based on responses from 19,000 people aged 18 to 75 across 18 countries and was conducted by AXA in collaboration with the research company Ipsos.

More people are turning to AI

The report also shows that many people do not seek professional help despite experiencing mental health challenges.

Six in ten respondents have not consulted a mental health professional during the past year, while one in four fears being met with prejudice.

This may be one of the reasons why more people are turning to artificial intelligence for support.

Across the countries included in the study, 63 percent say they have used AI for mental health support.

Some find the assistance helpful, while others are dissatisfied with the advice they receive.

The worst-performing country in Europe

The United Kingdom has the poorest mental health among the European countries included in the study and ranks third worst worldwide.

More than one in three people in the UK report being affected by severe stress, anxiety, or depression.

According to the report, the findings highlight the continued need for better access to mental health support and a stronger focus on mental well-being across all countries.
